City of Los Angeles
Dept. of Recreation and Parks

Graphic Design | Digital Marketing | Social Media | Part-Time | OCT 2024 - PRESENT

As part of the PR team with the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, I assist and manage various visual projects ranging from social media posts and campaigns to rush-order flyers with tight deadlines.

In addition to handling graphic request, I assist with administrative office responsibilities, including answering patron phone calls, monitoring the Recreation and Parks email, and photographing Recreation and Parks events.

The Nitty Gritty...

Overview and Contributions

The primary focus of my role in this position is to create compelling and unique graphics to share across our social media platforms, which includes Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter/X. I've created social media guidelines used throughout our department to ensure consistent and clear graphics and promotions.

I challenge myself daily to revolutionize the way I work and my creative process to ensure I am always allowing myself the space to grow, try something new, and create one-of-a-kind visual assets for our brand and presence.

Projects and Campaigns

One of my favorite parts about this role is the availability to explore new and unique ways of promoting our department and facilities in a way that is relevant to current events and put my own perspective on graphic design in recreation and parks.

Some of my favorite projects have been during award season in Los Angeles, where some of the biggest stars in the media gather to celebrate their feats. Likewise, at City of LA Recreation and Parks, we share out feats in a similar fashion. We put our own spin on awards like the Grammys and the Oscars and celebrated our accomplishments alongside Hollywood, getting everyone ready not just for award season, but parks season too.

Some projects require graphics for large scale printing. I was tasked with creating graphics to be used on construction fencing in Pershing  Square, seen by thousands of Angelenos and tourists alike. These graphics promote our PlayLA  program, sponsored by the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic games.
